Bargello Canada Inc. (“GivEat”, “we”, “us”) operates the GivEat platform — a community meal programme connecting supporters, verified students, and local restaurants in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Our website is giveat.ca and you can reach us at giveatca@gmail.com.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly when registering or using our platform:
- Supporters: name, email address, phone number, profession (optional). Payment details are processed by Stripe — GivEat never stores raw card numbers.
- Students: name, email address, institution, government-issued ID, and proof of enrolment for verification. This data is used solely to confirm eligibility.
- Restaurants: restaurant name, contact name, email, phone number, address, and menu details.
- Waitlist: email address only.
We also collect standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited via analytics tools.
How we use your information
- To verify student eligibility for the meal programme
- To process sponsorships and meal claims
- To send platform notifications and impact updates
- To communicate with restaurants about payouts and programme rules
- To improve the platform and monitor for abuse
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Data sharing
We share data only where necessary to operate the platform:
- Stripe — for payment processing (subject to Stripe’s Privacy Policy)
- Supabase — for secure cloud database hosting
- Google Analytics — for anonymous usage analytics
Student identity documents are never shared with restaurants or supporters.
Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. You can delete your account directly in the GivEat app (Profile → Delete account) or by emailing giveatca@gmail.com. When you delete your account, your profile and personal data are removed. Some records such as anonymised transaction history may be retained for legal or financial compliance purposes.
Your rights
Under Canada’s PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

Cookies
We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the platform and collect analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect platform functionality.
Security
We use industry-standard security practices including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure cloud infrastructure, and restricted access to personal data. No system is completely secure — if you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of GivEat after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
